Stray bullet hits school bus, injures boy
Shreveport police are investigating an incident in which a stray bullet went through the back window of a school bus, causing glass fragments to injure an 8-year-old boy.
The boy, who is a third grader at Midway Elementary, was taken to LSU Hospital, where he is expected to be treated and released.
There were 48 students on the bus at the time of the incident, which was caused when a young man came out of a house and fired a gun at his girlfriend. No one was shot, but the bullet went through the window on the bus. Another bus picked up the students and transported them to school, and counselors were on standby to talk to them.
The suspect fled the scene and has not been located at this time. Police ask that anyone who has information on this case, call detectives at 673-6955 or Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.
