Men busted for Ice

Narcotics agents made a huge dent in the local methamphetamine market last night with the arrests of two men and the seizure of more than $268,000 worth of methamphetamine Ice.

Recently, our area has seen an explosion of Ice drug use and sales. The DEA Task Force launched an investigation into drugs being brought to Shreveport from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

On Wednesday night, agents arrested two men from Fort Worth who were making an illegal drug transaction at a local hotel. John Ballesteros, 32, and Jose Garcia, 31. They were charged federally with possession with intent to distribute. In addition, agents seized 1,914.4 grams of suspected Ice - a rock form of methamphetamine.

Agencies involved in this investigation included the DEA Task Force, which is made up of the Shreveport Police Department, Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, Louisiana State Police, Webster Parish Sheriff's Office. It also included the ATF, Shreveport Police Department's Street Level Interdiction Unit and Caddo Parish K9 Unit.
