Woman dies in single vehicle accident

Shreveport Police are looking into a one-vehicle accident that killed 30-year-old Lori Barthelmess of Shreveport.

The woman was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer in the 1000 block of Bert Kouns at 7:50 p.m. when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed head on into a tree. Barthelmess and three boys, ages 13, 12 and 5, were all taken to LSU Hospital. Emergency officials brought her back to life several times before she succumbed to her injuries at 9:45 p.m.

The children, who were all restrained, had non life-threatening injuries. The oldest two boys are in good condition. The youngest is in serious condition as of this morning.

The investigation into the cause of the accident continues.
