Two people injured in morning accident

One teenager is in critical condition after his car left the roadway on Highway 3132 this morning.

The crash happened about 7:30 a.m. when Tyler Smith of Shreveport swerved to miss a car and lost control of his Toyota Camry. He left the roadway and went down an embankment, striking a tree. He had to be pulled from the wreckage and was air-lifted to LSU Hospital where he is in critical condition.

The car he was trying to avoid also swerved and struck a pole. David B. Toal, 27, of Shreveport also was transported with moderate injuries.

The accident caused other minor accidents and tied up traffic for hours.
