FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Police investigate two weekend homicides

Shreveport detectives have been busy this weekend investigating two separate homicides and making arrests in each of them.

In the first homicide, which occurred at 10:30 p.m. Friday night, Glen Egan, 42, of Shreveport was killed and 40-year-old Terrance Nash of Shreveport was injured in a shooting in the 7600 block of Harris St.

At least three people are believed to have driven by the residence and shot the suspects because of a burglary that had happened a few days before.

Police found the two victims in front of Egan's home suffering from gunshot wounds. They were rushed to LSU Hospital, but Egan died. Nash is currently in serious condition and requires round-the-clock care.

Information obtained in the investigation led detectives to arrest Cordell Shivers, 17, of Shreveport for first-degree homicide and attempted first-degree homicide. He is believed to have been the shooter in the backseat of the suspect vehicle. Police are still looking for the driver and the front-seat passenger, who also fired shots at the victims. Police are asking that those two suspects turn themselves in. The investiation continues into that shooting.

Meanwhile, detectives have made an arrest in another homicide that occurred at 10:50 p.m. Friday night.

Rodney "Big O" Ross, 30, of Shreveport was arrested for second-degree murder for the homicide of 18-year-old Jackie Ray Morris of Shreveport. The shooting occurred in the 2500 block of Lillian while the two were arguing. Morris turned to walk away from Ross, and Ross then pulled out a gun and fatally shot Morris in the back. Morris was transported to LSUHSC where he was pronounced deceased.

Anyone with information about either of these two homicides is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 673-7373 or Shreveport Police at 673-7300.
