Man arrested for last week’s fatality

Shreveport police have arrested a man on a charge of vehicular homicide for a fatality accident that occurred last week on Youree Drive.

John Kroner, 49, of Shreveport was booked into the Shreveport City Jail today. Crash investigators determined that Kroner ran the light at the intersection of Youree and Millicent Way and struck a Mazda 626 driven by 40-year-old Mingyu Ding of Shreveport.

Evidence at the crash scene indicates Ding pulled out of the Circle K lot headed southbound on Youree when he was hit in the driver's side rear by Kroner. Ding was killed inside his vehicle from massive trauma.

Kroner's car flipped several times but landed upright. He got out of his car and ran into the Circle K before the patrol officers removed him. Kroner tested negative for alcohol, but he had taken prescription drugs at the time of the accident.
