Man charged with multiple robberies/theft

A Shreveport man has been charged with multiple counts of robbery and theft following his arrest last week by a Caddo Parish Sheriff’s deputy.

Wilbert Miles, 26, of Shreveport faces charges related to 9 recent Shreveport robberies.

Miles was apprehended last week by Deputy Chris Godwin, who happened to be at a convenience store at South Lakeshore and Yarborough when it was robbed. The deputy was in a marked Caddo Sheriff’s Office unit and was flagged down by employees of the store. He drove around, located and then chased Miles, apprehending him and recovering stolen items.

Miles was wanted for the Aug. 31 robbery of Village Food Store at 5324 Jewella and for a 1997 theft at the Kettle restaurant at 4916 Monkhouse Drive.

While he is charged with using a firearm in the Village Food Store case, in many of the other cases, he would snatch money from an opened cash register and run away.

Detective James Cromer was able to place additional charges on him for seven additional cases:

    • Nov. 21, Circle K, 4700 Lakeshore, simple robbery

    • Nov. 21, Subway, 3500 Hearne Ave., simple robbery.
