Early Morning Shooting Has Many Questions
At approximately 2:00 AM on Sunday, September 26th there was a dispute in the parking lot of the Jewella Fast Mart, 3034 Jewella which lead to shots being fired. Preliminary reports indicate subjects from a red SUV pulled off the lot and began firing at another subject walking up carrying a rifle who returned fire.
While the shooting was in progress, two bail recovery agents were driving South on Jewella, hearing the shooting, pulled into the parking lot. As they did, the subject with the rifle pointed at them and one agent fired at the subject striking him in an unknown location. The suspect dropped the rifle and ran, another subject picked up the rifle and fired at the agents. Again the bail recovery agents fired and the shooter ran away.
Later on that morning, and unidentified subject showed up at LSUMC with a bullet wound to his face and stated he was a bystander. No further information is available and as the investigation continues.
