SPD sponsors Spring Break Girl’s Camp

While some kids might get bored during the upcoming Spring Break, about 40 Shreveport girls will go on an adventure most have never experienced before.

The Shreveport Police Department will sponsor a Girl’s Camp to take place next weekend, March 28 and 29.

For the past two years, the SPD has hosted a Boy’s Camp during the summer. This will be the first camp held for girls.

The event will take place at Camp Wawbansee in Arcadia. The camp starts at 5 p.m. Friday, March 28, and ends Saturday evening.

Children will learn about camping, hiking, star gazing, patriotism, citizenship and team building. Educational activities also will be held to increase the girls’ math and science skills.

The media is welcome to cover this event and spend the night, if they so desire. Or they may cover the girls’ departure for camp, which takes place at 4 p.m. Friday at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds.
