Man shot after breaking into home

A Shreveport man was shot once in the chin after allegedly breaking into a woman’s home about 9 a.m. this morning.

The incident occurred at an apartment located at 1915 Patzman. When a man forcibly entered a 28-year-old woman’s home, she fired several shots at him, striking him once in the chin.

Marcus Thomas, 30, of Shreveport was taken to LSU Hospital with a non life-threatening injury. He is charged with aggravated burglary.

Meanwhile, the woman will not be charged, as investigators have determined the shooting was in self-defense.

At the time of the shooting, Thomas was under investigation for allegedly sexually assaulting the same woman, who was his ex-girlfriend. That incident was reported on Sunday.
