Rape suspect arrested

Shreveport police have arrested a 47-year-old Shreveport man on charges of molesting and raping children.

Walter Houston of the 2800 block of Bibb Street was arrested this morning and charged with five counts of molestation and two counts of aggravated rape.

An investigation by the Sex Crimes Unit determined that Houston allegedly assaulted the children ages 4 to 14 over a seven-month period. The incidents began in June of 2002 and ended in January of 2003.

It is unknown if Houston assaulted any other children in Shreveport. If anyone has information about other cases, please call the Sex Crimes Unit at 673-6955 or Crime Stoppers at 673-7000.
