Man arrested, charged with raping pregnant woman

Shreveport detectives have arrested a man for forcibly raping a 23-year-old pregnant woman at knife point on Wednesday.

Aristede Burd, 33, of the 2900 block of Samford was arrested early this morning at his home and charged with one count of aggravated rape.

The incident occurred when the suspect offered to give the woman a ride home. Once they arrived at a residence in the 1600 block of Fullerton, the suspect pulled a knife and forced the woman into the home, where he raped her. The woman is 7 months pregnant.

The suspect left the scene, but the victim was able to get his license plate number. Last night, detectives obtained an arrest warrant and took him into custody without incident.

It is believed that Burd has committed three other sexual offenses in a similar manner. One of the previous incidents involved a 14-year-old girl.

Bond for Burd has been set at $500,000.
