FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Seat belt and DWI checkpoint set for Friday night

The Shreveport Police Department Traffic Enforcement Bureau, in conjunction with Queensboro/Ingleside Weed and Seed and with the assistance of Louisiana State Police Troop G, will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Friday, Jan. 31.

This operation will begin at 10 p.m. and end at 02 a.m. It will be conducted in Police Patrol Area 3, which encompasses the west section of the City.

Past sobriety checkpoints have been highly successful, resulting in the arrest of numerous persons suspected of driving whileiIntoxicated, as well as various drug charges.

Officers also check for seat belts and proof of insurance during the checkpoint, so drivers need to make sure they have their paperwork up to date and ready in case they get stopped.
