Shreveport Police remind motorists
The Shreveport Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind citizens of a state traffic law that requires motorists to use their headlights whenever they have their windshield wipers in continuous use.
Louisiana law mandates that headlamps are required at any time between sunset and sunrise, anytime there is insufficient light or unfavorable atmospheric conditions which make persons and vehicles difficult to discern at a distance of five hundred feet, and when moisture or rain necessitates the continuous use of windshield wipers.
As we approach the holiday season, the Shreveport Police Department will step up traffic enforcement in an attempt to make our city’s streets as safe as possible for all motorists. If it is raining or foggy, please remember to turn on your headlights.
