Volunteers needed for Project Read

Shreveport police will be responding to calls for service at Lakeshore Elementary each week this fall, but not because the students are in trouble.

The officers will be participating in the third year of Project Read, a program that features officers and other community volunteers reading to the elementary-aged children.

This year’s Project Read kicks off Sept. 11 and takes place each Wednesday morning through the fall semester.

If anyone would like to volunteer to read to children or donate books for the officers to read, contact Lt. Wendell Delaney at 673-6950.
