A standoff that lasted 4½ hours ended peacefully about 12:30 a.m. today after the Shreveport Police Department’s Special Response Team entered a suspect’s home and arrested him without incident.
Archie Bennett, 87, is charged with aggravated battery for the incident that began when Bennett allegedly fired shots at a guy walking past his house in the 4000 block of Carver Lane.
Frank Brown, 53, was shot several times with a pellet shotgun. He was transported to LSU Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Following the shooting, Bennett barricaded himself inside his home and would not respond to police requests for him to surrender.
The SPD’s Special Response Team was called to the scene. After making visual contact with the suspect a few hours later, the team entered the rear of the residence and arrested Bennett.
Bennett also had outstanding warrants against him for aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
