Two arrested in double shooting

A woman and her boyfriend were arrested this afternoon after an altercation led both to shoot each other at a residence in the 100 block of North Greenbrook Loop.

Lareeda Young, 23, has been charged with aggravated battery for allegedly shooting Robert Payne, 27, in the leg. Payne reportedly shot back, striking Young in the arm. Both reportedly lived at the residence.

Payne drove himself to the hospital, where officers discovered several baggies of marijuana, weapons and cash in his vehicle. Meanwhile, Young was transported to LSU Hospital with a minor injury.

A search of the residence uncovered additional evidence, which investigators are working to process.

The investigation continues into this incident, and more charges could be filed at a later date.
