Shreveport police department is hiring

Do you have a desire to serve and protect our community? The Shreveport Police Department is hiring police officers and jailers.

A written examination will be given within the next 60 days to approved applicants. Everyone who passes the exam will be placed on an eligibility list and go through a hiring process that consists of interviews, background checks, physical fitness tests and more. Those accepted for the job of police officer will then attend the Shreveport Regional Police Academy for 16 weeks of training, then six months of training on the Field Training Officer Program.

Starting pay for police officers is $2,029 a month. After one year of service, state supplemental pay boosts the annual salary to $2,329 a month. Starting pay for jailers is $1,751 per month, and starting pay for communications officer is $2,537 per month.

Specific requirements are slightly different for each job, but applicants must be U.S. citizens at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, be in good health, have no felony convictions and be of good moral character.
