Homeless man charged with murder

A man arrested earlier this week on charges of aggravated kidnaping and robbery is now facing a murder charge.

Jason Morgan, 28, will be charged with second-degree murder after a detective received information that led him to the location of a deceased male.

A white male, believed to be in his mid-50s, was found in a wooded area near Brooks and Sam Fertitta drive late this afternoon.

He apparently had been dead for a few days and appeared to have died from blunt trauma to the body.

The Caddo Parish Coroner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine exact cause of death and the man’s exact identification.

Meanwhile, Morgan faces up to life in prison if convicted of the homicide.

On Tuesday Morgan and 45-year-old Jackie Worley were arrested after allegedly kidnaping a 44-year-old man who had arrived in Shreveport early Tuesday on a bus from New Mexico. The victim, who is from Laos, was tied to a tree stump but managed to escape and run to a bar at Havens and Grimmett, where the police were notified.
