Motorcyclist dies in morning accident

A 59-year-old Bossier City man died while riding his motorcycle into Shreveport after 5 a.m. this morning.

Walter Edward Knutson Jr. had crossed the Jimmie Davis Bridge from Bossier City and hit an Isuzi pickup truck, which was turning left onto East 70th Street from Dixie Meadow.

Knutson struck the driver’s side of the truck, which was driven by William Bridges, 80, of Shreveport. Knutson died at the scene, while Bridges received minor scratches from broken glass.

Knutson was thrown from the motorcycle, and it is believed that another car may have hit him and then left the scene.

Bridges was cited for failure to yield.

Anyone with information about the possible hit and run driver is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 673-7000, or the Traffic Bureau at 673-7255.
