Police send LSU patient case to DA

The case of a man who died while being restrained at LSU Hospital has been referred to the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s office.

Shreveport Police Department detectives have completed a thorough investigation of the case and referred it to the DA’s office for review. A final coroner’s report on what caused the death of 21-year-old Jeremy Bennett has not been completed.

The SPD has made no determination of whether any criminal wrongdoing occurred.

Bennett died May 6 after a struggle with hospital staff and LSU police officers. As they were restraining him, Bennett stopped breathing.
