Police Department helps with tire pickup

Anyone wanting to discard old tires can do so in the coming weeks. The old tires are not only eyesores for neighborhoods, but they can become health hazards by collecting pesky mosquitos.

Shreveport Police Department’s two Operation Weed and Seed sites will assist with the clean up efforts.

On Saturday, crews will pick up tires in the neighborhoods of Highland, Stoner Hill and Ingleside from 8 a.m. to noon IF RESIDENTS PLACE THEM ON THE CURB prior to the pickup date.

Other residents can take tires to various collection sites this summer. The collections take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following locations:

      • Saturday at the Highland Center, 520 Olive.

      • July 14 at A.B. Palmer Park, 500 East 79th St.

      • July 28 at Hattie Perry Park, 4300 Ledbetter.

    Residents who need assistance with their tires can call the two Weed and Seed sites. Area 2 Weed and Seed in Highland-Stoner Hill can be reached at 673-7390. Queensborough-Ingleside Weed and Seed can be reached at 673-7355.
