Police mourn loss of retired captain

Retired Captain David Huddleston passed away Thursday morning as he was working in his yard.

Huddleston, 64, retired as a captain with the Shreveport Police Department on April 30. His last assignment was area commander. He will be sorely missed by his fellow officers.

Huddleston began working for the department in January of 1970. During that time, he captured some memorable images on film. One of his most notable works was a picture of a patrol car that had a picture of Jesus superimposed on it.

As departmental historian, Huddleston was leading the charge to print a memory book on the history of the Shreveport Police Department.

He leaves behind his wife, Barbara, and two children, Mark and Lisa.

A graveside service for Huddleston will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent.
