Kid fishing tournament sign up ends Monday

The Shreveport Police Department’s free fishing tournament for kids is June 30, but youth wanting to participate have until Monday to register.

Kids ages 6 to 16 can participate in the fishing event, which will feature fishing and boating safety, refreshments and competitive prizes for the largest fish in various age categories.

About 200 children are expected to participate in the event, which is hosted by the SPD Community Services Unit.

It will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at Municipal Pier, located on Municipal Pier Road, across from Ford Park near Cross Lake.
