Safety Fair promises fun for all

In conjunction with National Safe Kids Week, the Shreveport Police Department will participate in a Safety Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The event will be held at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds and feature a variety of games, face painting and safety tips.

Shreveport Police Department’s motorcycle, bicycle and mounted patrols will be on hand to teach children how to work and play safely.

A bicycle and tricycle rodeo also will be featured, and officers will provide advice to parents on which safety seats are appropriate for their child and how to correctly install them.

Officers also will address school bus safety and the importance of wearing a helmet when biking, skateboarding or roller blading.

The Safety Fair is a Shreveport Enforcement Project, which provides education and information to the public. SPD’s participation in the Safety Fair is being funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
