Police suspect man in 48 burglaries

Police have closed 48 burglary cases with the arrest of one man who appears to be a career criminal.

Herman Williams, 37, of Shreveport has been charged with burglaries of businesses and automobiles that occurred throughout the city, including north Shreveport, downtown Shreveport, central Shreveport and southeast Shreveport.

Williams is no stranger to Shreveport police. In 1998 he was arrested for burglary and admitted to nearly 150 burglaries at that time. His arrest record includes cases in Bossier City, Shreveport and Monroe.

All of the recent Shreveport cases occurred this year, including some businesses which were burglarized twice. Crimes that he is alleged to have committed include burglaries at:

1. Hamilton Terrace School, 1105 Louisiana Ave.

2. Mid South Press, 850 Stoner Ave.

3. The Times, 222 Lake St.

4. The Korner Lounge, 800 Lousiana Ave. (AUTO BURGLARY)

5. 725 Cotton St. (AUTO BURGLARY)

6. The Data Store, 919 Texas Ave.

7. Electric Supply, 935 Texas Ave.

8. Electric Supply, 935 Texas Ave.

9. 844 Texas Ave. (AUTO THEFT)

10. World Net Communications, 846 Texas Ave.
