Missing person case reaches one-year anniversary

On April 24, 2000 62-year-old Alzheimer’s patient Louise Johnson walked away from a temporary SporTran bus terminal near Municipal Auditorium.

Johnson had been dropped off at the Sir Washalot Washateria in the 4900 block of Broadway at about 9 a.m. by a neighbor, who instructed Johnson to call when she was ready to be picked up.

Johnson never called.

There were reports Johnson had been at Leonia’s Deli on Jewella Avenue on the afternoon of the day she went missing.

A year after she was reported missing, there has been no sign of the woman, who is diabetic.

Johnson is a black female with blonde hair, brown eyes and a small build, was last seen wearing pink shorts and black tennis shoes.

She lived in the 5600 block of McAlpine. She is 5'7" and weighs about 150 pounds. She has a medium complexion, wears prescription glasses and has a gold tooth.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call Detective Patricia Lamotte at 673-7020.
