Citizen to be honored for robbery assistance

Three citizens are in the spotlight after they made the best of a bad situation on Sunday.

Mark Peters, Haelie Pellegrin and Tyler Boudreaux are all receiving Chief’s Appreciation Awards for their quick reactions during an armed robbery at Shane’s Acadiana Crawfish.

Peters and Pellegrin accepted the award during a ceremony this afternoon, and Boudreaux will receive his award during an appreciation crawfish boil at Shane’s on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Peters was honored after he apprehended one of the armed robbery suspects after the suspect fled the store. Pellegrin and Boudreaux are being honored, because Boudreaux saw a man with a gun and told Pellegrin to make the 911 call before the robbery even occurred.

Police arrived on the scene while the robbery was in progress. Both Columbus Lewis, 18, and Jake Lamar Thomkins Lockett Jr., 20, face two counts of armed robbery -- one for the Shane’s robbery and another for an armed robbery that occurred Friday at All American Insurance Agency.

All American Insurance is located just a short distance away from Shane’s on Mansfield Road.
