Police seek suspect in recent carjacking/shooting

Police are looking for the man they believe carjacked and shot a 19-year-old Shreveport man at Avaya Communications Plant on March 11.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Shanmarcus Butler, 18, of Shreveport. Butler is wanted for attempted first-degree murder and carjacking. Bond has been set at $500,000.

Butler reportedly approached Emanuel Allen at Allen’s residence in the 7400 block of Timberview about 12:20 p.m. Butler then pulled a gun on Allen and forced the victim to drive behind the Avaya Communications plant in the 2900 block of Baird Road. Once at that location, Butler reportedly shot Allen in the head and drove off.

Police recovered Allen’s blue Chevy Nova in a wooded area in far south Caddo Parish just after midnight the next day.

Allen was taken to LSU Hospital and currently is recovering from the wound that destroyed his right eye.

Anyone with information about Butler’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 673-7000 or the detective’s office at 673-6955.
