Police investigate double homicide at liquor store

Police are investigating a double homicide at Rite Way Liquor at 1750 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive that occurred last night.

Demir Elikara, who is believed to be 33 years old, and Cengiz "Sam" Elikara, 68, were both found shot near the counter of the store about 9:35 p.m.

Demir Elikara was rushed to LSU Hospital where he later died. Sam Elikara was pronounced dead at the scene. Both victims had multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

The victims were found by a customer who entered the store and then notified police.

Detectives are investigating whether the motive of this shooting was robbery.
