Mardi Gras parade rolls once again

As the Krewe of Gemini parade floats along Shreveport streets, about 100 Shreveport police officers will be working to keep the event safe and fun for citizens.

The Shreveport Police Department creates a mini department at the site, complete with a command post, jail booking area, communications office and dozens of officers assigned to address traffic, DWI, underage drinking and crowd control.

Again, deputies with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and Wade Correctional Center will be on hand for the event.

But this weekend, Caddo Parish Animal Control will also help enforce animal control laws. Pet owners must have their rabies/registration tags and keep their dogs on a leash.

Just as last weekend’s parade, glass bottles are prohibited, as well as underage drinking.
