Civil Service exam to be held next month

Anyone wanting to become a police officer or jailer can apply to take the civil service exam in February.

Deadline for applying is Feb. 5, and interested applicants can apply at Police Personnel in Suite A-200 at 1800 Buckner Square. Or they can call 673-7150 for more information.

To qualify, a person must meet the following qualifications:

* Be a U.S. Citizen.

* Be at least 21 years of age.

* Have a valid driver’s license.

* Be in generally good health.

* Pass an extensive background check and have no felony convictions.

* Be of good moral character.

* Have 30 hours of college credit or sign a contract agreeing to acquire 30 hours of college during the first 5 years of employment (for police officer applicants only).
