Residents encouraged to attend Citizens Police Academy

Anyone wanting to know how the Shreveport Police Department operates can get a first-hand account by attending the Citizens Police Academy.

Academy classes are held every Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. It is a nine-week course that begins Feb. 20.

Addressed in the class are the philosophies and internal values within the department, and the various operations of the department. They also will get hands-on experience in police work.

Deadline for applications is Feb. 10. Residents can get more information and an application on the city’s web site: www.ci.shreveport.la.us. Click on City Departments. Go to Police, and then to Volunteer Programs.
