Two off-duty detectives were in the right place at the right time for a citizen who was robbed at an ATM machine.
As T.C. McCarthy and Paul Robinson were in their car at Hope and Texas streets Monday night, a man yelled that he had just been robbed of money and a watch as he was leaving an ATM machine at Line and Jordan.
Moments before speaking to the robbery victim, the detectives noticed two black males riding bicycles at a high rate of speed.
The detectives began pursuing the suspects. The chase went east on Texas, north on Lawrence and east on Oakland.
One of the suspects pointed a revolver at the detectives as he was dismounting his bike, so Robinson bumped the suspect with his car.
Both suspects ran and hid underneath a row of shotgun houses.
The first suspect managed to escape, but the suspect hit by Robinson was arrested and placed in Shreveport City Jail.
Billy Mandosia, 27, of Shreveport was booked with armed robbery. Before his arrest, he was on parole for attempted manslaughter. He served six years of a 12-year sentence for that crime.
Both Mandosia and the other suspect were wearing Halloween masks at the time of the robbery. Both of the masks were recovered, along with a handgun and the victim's watch.
The second suspect is described as 6'2", 27 years old and a medium build and dark complexion. He goes by the nickname "Black" and has braided hair and two gold front teeth. Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 673-7000 or Detective Ross R.H. Ross at 673-6955.
