Fingerprinting/safety seat clinic

Another popular child seat safety and fingerprinting clinic will be held for families at Mall St. Vincent's parking lot this Saturday, Oct. 14.

Parents can bring their children in their child safety seats to the clinic for inspection from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Louisiana law requires children be restrained while traveling in a vehicle. Car seat coupons worth $5 toward the purchase of a car seat at Toys `R Us will be available at the clinic.

Besides determining whether the seat is installed correctly, parents can have their children fingerprinted. Fingerprinting provides permanent identification of children in case of an emergency.

The program is conducted by Shreveport Police Department's Operation Weed and Seed and is sponsored by SPD, Toys `R Us, Mall St. Vincent, Procell Allstate Insurance, AAA Insurance and State Farm Insurance.
