SPD Explorers research careers in law enforcement Teens and young adults who are interested in learning about a career in law enforcement can experience police work first hand by becoming members of the Shreveport Police Department's Law Enforcement Explorer Post. An informational meeting to learn more about membership will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, at the Shreveport Regional Police Academy at 6440 Greenwood Road. Lt. Mark Rogers of the police department's crime scene investigations unit also will be on hand to give a presentation on forensics. The Exploring program is designed for teens and young adults between the ages of 14 and 21 to introduce them to a career in law enforcement. Explorers learn about career opportunities and duties through regular meetings, actual hands-on experiences, and working special details. While the program is part of the Boy Scouts of America, it is open to young men and womeninterested in exploring policing as a profession. The SPD Explorer Post currently has 20 members, but the department is seeking even more participation, said organizer Sgt. Horace Roberson. Anyone interested in learning more about the post is welcome to attend Wednesday's meeting and bring a friend and/or parent. For more information, you can contact Sgt.
