Bicycle officer training begins Monday

    Ten officers with the Shreveport Police Department will begin a 40-hour course to qualify for bicycle patrol.

    The course, which is written by the International Police Mountain Bike Association, will be taught by Shreveport Police Officer Jimmy Ray.

    A variety of activities will be included in the training, including a road ride through Shreveport. Most of the training takes place at Shreveport Festival Plaza, although officers also will be at the Shreveport Police Academy.

    Any media wanting to cover this training should contact Jimmy Ray at 8 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday of next week at the Mounted Patrol barn, 673-7250.
