Suspected robber caught with help of K-9 Basco

A Shreveport man suspected of robbing Rachel's Beauty Salon in the 5000 block of Jewella was arrested after he went into his grandmother's house on Denton Street.

Officers chased 21-year-old Christopher Oneal of Shreveport into the home shortly after the robbery occurred. A second suspect got away.

After Oneal failed to leave the home at officers' requests, Cpl. Stephen Pfender sent his K-9, Basco, into the house. Basco bit Oneal on the forearm and wrist.

Oneal was treated at the scene by paramedics before he was taken into custody.

The incident occurred about 10 a.m. this morning after a handful of customers were robbed at the beauty salon. The two black males made away with money and one or more purses. One of the suspects was armed with a gun.

The second suspect is described as 5'11" and 165 pounds. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 673-7000.
