Shreveport Police arrest suspect in string of thefts

Shreveport Police have charged a Converse woman in connection with several theft cases.

Detectives have arrested 27 year old Sally Mildred Bays, of Converse, Louisiana, and charged her with three counts of felony theft. Bays had been working for Heavenly Homes Housekeeping Service since September as a temporary employee and investigators believe Bays would steal items from the residences she was being paid to clean. Bays struck at least three victims in Shreveport and stole mostly cash and jewelry, but also made off with pain medication belonging to a cancer patient. Bays is also accused of stealing approximately $50 from a child’s piggy bank as well as a gold bracelet belonging to a six month old infant. Detectives have recovered approximately $13,000 worth of merchandise from local pawn shops that Bays is believed to have stolen from her victims and this investigation is still very much ongoing.

Detectives located Sally Bays in the Bossier Parish Correctional Facility where she was being held on similar charges. Bays has now been transferred to the Caddo Correctional Center.

Detectives are still working these cases and believe there may be other victims out there. Anyone who might have been victimized in a similar fashion and not reported the theft is urged to call Detective Roger Courtney at 673-6955 or Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.
