Suspected bank robber surrenders to police

A man wanted for robbing a downtown Shreveport Bank this afternoon has surrendered himself to officers this evening.

At approximately 6:45 p.m. this evening, 43 year old Rayfel Matta walked into the Patrol Desk at the Shreveport Police Complex and advised the sergeant working there that he wanted to turn himself in for robbing the Regions Bank on Texas Ave. this afternoon. Investigators were notified and took custody of Matta.

Detectives interviewed Matta and have booked him into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of first degree robbery. Rayfel Matta's mugshot is not immediately available.
