Shreveport Police investigating two reported rapes

Shreveport Police detectives are investigating two rapes that have been reported in the past twenty four hours.

At approximately 1:10 p.m. yesterday afternoon, Shreveport Police investigators responded out to the emergency room at Willis Knighton North relative to an adult female reporting she had been sexually assaulted. The victim advised detectives that at approximately 1:30 a.m. on October 8, 2009, she was driving and was stopped at the traffic light at Hearne Ave. and Emery St. when a male suspect got in the back seat of her car armed with an unknown weapon. The victim told investigators the male suspect forced her to drive to a location and then pulled her into the backseat of the vehicle where he sexually assaulted her. After the attack, the suspect got out of the car and fled in an unknown direction. The suspect is described only as a heavy-set black male.

At approximately 1:15 a.m. this morning, a Shreveport Police patrol officer was flagged down by an adult female in 4200 block of Greenwood Rd. who reported that she had been sexually assaulted. Detectives were dispatched and subsequently learned that the victim was walking on Portland Ave. towards Lakeshore Dr. when a black male driving a green four door vehicle approached her and kidnapped her at gunpoint. She told investigators he drove her somewhere near the Shreveport Country Club just off of Greenwood Rd. and then sexually assaulted her in the vehicle. The victim advised the suspect dropped her off close to where he abducted her. The suspect is described as a heavy-set black male.

Officers and detectives are working diligently at this time in a concerted effort to identify and apprehend these offenders. The Shreveport Police Department is asking anyone who may have information about these cases to call detectives at 318-673-6955 or Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
