Shreveport police investigate homicide Shreveport Police detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred this morning outside of a west Shreveport home.
At approximately 9:15 a.m. this morning, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a residence in the 5100 block of Truman St. relative to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered 54 year old Willie Upton deceased in the driveway just outside of the carport of the home suffering from what appeared to be at least three gunshot wounds to the upper body. Responding officers located the suspect, identified as 31 year old Tarogany Upton of the 5100 block of Truman St., sitting on a chair in the carport there and took him into custody. Officers also recovered a small caliber revolver that is believed to be the murder weapon.
Detectives were dispatched to the scene and now believe that Tarogany Upton was involved in some type of dispute with the victim, who is his uncle. During the course of this dispute, Tarogany Upton produced the handgun and shot the victim. Investigators are interviewing Tarogany Upton at this time and will be charging him with second degree murder.
A mug shot of Tarogany Upton will be made available as soon as he is booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
Anyone who has any information regarding this homicide is urged to call Shreveport Police detectives at 318-673-6955 or Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373. -spd- View all SPD press releases at www.shreveportla.gov |
