Wanted man arrested in Texas

Shreveport Police have been notified that a man wanted in connection with a shooting last July has been captured by law officers in Texas.

At approximately 10:50 p.m. on July 19, 2009, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Malcolm St. relative to a large fight where several people had been shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Vanessa C. Baker, 41 years of age, and Cartavian Baker, 18 years of age, was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department with what has been described as non life threatening wounds. Timothy Bell, 50 years of age, was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department with life threatening wounds. Each of the victims was shot at least once.

Detectives subsequently secured three attempted first degree murder warrants for the arrest of 25 year old Shamichael Tillman of Shreveport in connection with this shooting. The warrants have a bond of $100,000 each. According to Shreveport Police Detective Robert Gordon, Tillman was captured last night in Addison, Texas by a patrol officer there who stopped the suspect for a traffic violation. Tillman is in custody in Texas awaiting extradition to Caddo Parish.
