FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Shreveport Police Capture Escapee
A prisoner who escaped from LSU Health Sciences Center early this morning was captured shortly before noon today after Shreveport Police officers received a tip from a citizen.
Sean Sibley, 29, was caught hiding in the back of a vehicle in the 800 block of Dalisa Street in south Shreveport. Sibley was originally arrested by Shreveport Police on two counts of vehicle burglary on September 17, 2008. On September 19, he began complaining of chest pains and was transported to LSU Health Sciences Center for treatment. Once he was formally admitted to the hospital, police officers were relieved by private security guards. This is standard procedure for non-violent felony prisoners who are admitted to a local hospital.
While under guard, at about 3:30 a.m. this morning, Sibley managed to walk out of the hospital while attached to a heart monitor. The Shreveport Police Department was notified and began an immediate search of the area. Detectives began researching Sibley’s history and contacting friends and relatives.
Sibley was arrested without incident and charged with an additional count of Felony Theft and Simple Escape. Members of the Shreveport Police Jail Command are scheduling meetings with the security company to discuss and review security protocol.
