Child injured in shooting dies

A five year old little boy who was shot last week has died.

The child, whose name is not being released by the Shreveport Police Department as per departmental policy, died Saturday, September 19, 2009. The child was shot in the upper body back on September 14, 2009 at a residence in the 200 block of Wilkinson. Detectives believe that the little boy shot himself accidentally after gaining access to a handgun in the home. Investigators stress that the investigation into this child’s death is still ongoing.
