Shreveport Police to conduct safety checkpoint

The Shreveport Police Department will conduct a safety checkpoint this evening in southeast Shreveport.

The checkpoint is part of our commitment at the Shreveport Police Department to make the streets of our city safe for everyone. Officers will be checking for impaired drivers and any other violations that would compromise the safety of our citizens.

Chief of Police Henry Whitehorn noted that these safety checkpoints are an important component of the department’s ongoing efforts to address a serious traffic issue, saying, “Those violators who chose to operate a motor vehicle while impaired put each and every one of us at risk. These safety checkpoints are a tool that we are using to take these offenders off of the streets of our communities and increase awareness that driving while impaired will not be tolerated.”
