FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shreveport Police motorcycle officer injured in crash

A Shreveport Police motorcycle officer was injured this morning in a one vehicle crash at the intersection of E. Preston Ave. and Knight St.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. this morning Officer Breck Scott, a five year veteran of the department, was operating his department issued Harley- Davidson motorcycle eastbound on E. Preston Ave. approaching its intersection with Knight St. As Officer Scott was making a left turn from E. Preston Ave. onto Knight St., his motorcycle hit some type of slick fluid on the road way and began to slide. The motorcycle slid for some distance along Knight St., ultimately turning over. Officer Scott was transported to LSUHSC with what have been described as moderate injuries. He was conscious and alert, but in some pain. He has since been released from the hospital.

Crash investigators were dispatched to the scene and are working at this time to determine exactly what the substance on the roadway was and how it got there. City sand trucks were dispatched to the scene as well and have spread sand over the road hazard to make travel there safe.
