Shreveport Police post results of safety check point

The Shreveport Police Department held a safety checkpoint last week as part of an ongoing, proactive effort to address traffic issues and reduce the number of traffic fatalities in our city.

Officers working this checkpoint, which was held last Thursday, August 6, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. through 6:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of Colquitt Rd, wrote a total of 136 traffic citations. Fifty of these citations were for safety belt violations and five citations were issued for child restraint violations. Ten citations were issued for no proof of insurance and the other violations ranged from careless operation to expired M.V.I. stickers.
