Shreveport Police arrest bevy of suspects in armed robbery

Shreveport Police detectives have arrested four suspects in connection with a robbery at a south Shreveport eatery last weekend.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on July 31, 2009, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to the Arby’s restaurant in the 100 block of E. Bert Kouns relative to an armed robbery. Upon arrival officers learned that two male suspects had entered the business through a back door while employees were taking a “smoke” break. One of the suspects produced a handgun and robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of money. The suspects then fled the scene of the crime.

Detectives immediately began their investigation and have arrested the following suspects:

Valarie Jackson, 25 years old, of the 4200 block of Powell St. in Shreveport, arrested on one count of interfering with an officer. Jackson gave detectives false information regarding the robbery.

John Darby, 23 years old, of the 2100 block of Hanna St. in Shreveport, arrested as a principle to armed robbery and one count of interfering with an officer. Detectives believe Darby helped plan the robbery and then gave them false information regarding the robbery.

Lewis Taylor, 38 years old, of the 1500 block of Patzman St. in Shreveport, arrested on one count of armed robbery.

Demaseo Caldwell, 19 years old, of the 2800 block of Fifth St. in Shreveport, arrested on one count of armed robbery.

Demaseo Caldwell’s mug shot is not in the system yet due to computer problems.
