Shreveport detectives arrest suspect in downtown homicide

Shreveport detectives have arrested a local man for the murder of James E. Chitman.

Detectives have charged 33 year old Patrick Sweeney of the 3200 block of Red Bud Lane. in Shreveport with one count of second degree homicide in connection with the shooting death of Chitman. Chitman was shot and killed in the 200 block of Spring St. in the early morning hours of July 27, 2009. Investigators developed Sweeney as a suspect and arrested him without incident yesterday afternoon at his residence.
